Discovering the daily life of women in the urban society of Lesvos through handwritten recipes and fashion magazines during the Interwar period.

The objective of this dissertation has been the digitization, documentation and development of a digital collection based on a handwritten notebook with recipes and six fashion magazines. The primary material belonged to a woman of the urban society of Mytilene with a prosperous life, who lived in the 20th century, named Anna Arapi. Based on this material, and drawing information from relevant publications of that period, an attempt is made to reconstruct the culinary past of the urban society of Mytilene, focusing on women who were responsible both for the culinary habits of the family as well as for recording them in handwritten recipe books.
