Comic book worlds of the fantastic: visualization and ideological representation in fantasy comics

The following dissertation investigates the dominant and alternative reading approaches on comics of the fantastic, focusing on fantasy comics. Bringing into focus the comic book production of the U.S.A and the United Kingdom, the paper examines issues of representation and ideology, researches the evolution of the particular genre in the confines of an industrial-like production and investigates the role of modern cultural industries in its artistic and ideological approach.
