Exploring Wellbeing in the Digital Era

Digital wellbeing can be understood as the state of harmonious coexistence and optimal engagement between humans and digital technologies. It involves acknowledging and embracing the transformative potential of digital technologies to augment human capabilities and experiences, while also considering the ethical and existential implications that arise in a posthuman context.

Our research aims to establish a creative synergy between posthumanist thinking and requirements engineering, in the spirit of a contemporary practical philosophy for a digitalised society. We seek to answer questions such as:

  • How is the notion of agency transformed in the age of digitalization?
  • How do we define wellbeing in digitally transformed societies?
  • What role can the new conceptualisation of digital wellbeing play in the development of IT systems?
